Cutting costs on wedding professionals
The global wedding industry is a multi billion dollar industry. Other than the purchase of a home, a wedding in perhaps the most costly thing that you will ever need to pay for. The average cost of a modern wedding is sky high. You need to factor in things like booking the photographer / videographer, buying the flowers and cake, renting the hall and music and booking the honeymoon.
There are many ways to cut the cost of your wedding without losing out. Many wedding jobs can be delegated out to family and friends for a far lower price than a professional would change. You could even get it free as their wedding present to you.
Instead of paying a professional wedding planner good money to plan your wedding ask a close friend or family member to do it for you. Likewise, instead of paying for a professional photographer / videographer to capture the big day ask a family member to take the pictures for you. Look for someone whose job or hobby it is and approach them with your idea. Their fees will be considerably lower than a professional.
You could do the same with the wedding cake. Ask someone close to you to make it for you. The flower display that you have at the church and in the hall is also open to curbing costs. Ask a family member to come in and take change. If somebody close to you is a dab hand and making things, ask them to make silk flowers instead of the real thing. They are less expensive than fresh flowers.
The wedding dress that the bride and bridesmaids wear is another major factor that bumps up the cost of a wedding. Try to be sensible about your choice. I'm not saying that you should get your dress from a charity shop, but instead ask a friend to make the bridesmaid dresses.
You can save money by thinking logically about the entertainment you want to have. A string quartet is all very well if you have plenty of money, but there is nothing wrong with hiring your own club singer or DJ. You could again ask a friend or family member.
